A little bit about me…

Photographed by Continuous Portrait Project

My name is Nikki, I am 26 years old and based in London & Essex.

My interest for tattooing sparked at a very young age when my mum started practising her mehndi (henna) designs on my hands and feet. The intricate patterns and jewellery-like designs fascinated me and I was instantly hooked. I knew from then that I wanted to have a more permanent version of these on my body and to also create beautiful pieces for others to enjoy.

I started my tattooing journey in 2017 at World of Tattoos in Ruislip Manor, London. It was here that I learned my craft from a great mentor, who taught me how to tattoo all the main styles of tattooing before I decided to specialise in ornamental. I worked there for 5 years before moving on to my current studio in Essex. I have been fortunate enough to experience multiple conventions and guest spots around the country and I plan to do many more in the future!

I have always had a natural flare for art and paying attention to detail. This lends itself well to the ornamental and geometrical styles of work I choose to specialise in. I really enjoy the challenge of producing intricate and symmetrical patterns and then replicating them onto the body.

My work is influenced by my South Asian background, with a modern and current twist. I believe that everybody who can appreciate the beauty of mehndi should be able to wear it forever.
